Outdoor School Bangkok’s parent community

The Outdoor School Bangkok’s parent community gathered for its first Parent Mental Health Support Meeting for a coffee morning at Nevermind Cafe. The theme of the meeting was “Supporting Each Other through the Joys and Challenges of Parenting.”

As parents arrived, they were greeted with warm smiles and friendly conversation. The mood was positive and supportive as everyone settled into their seats and prepared for the discussion. Child, adolescent and parenting specialists led the meeting.

The meeting began with a few opening remarks from our Director, Teacher Kiki, who introduced the event’s purpose and thanked everyone for coming. She then invited parents to share their experiences and insights on the joys and challenges of parenting.

One parent spoke about the joy of watching her child grow and learn and the challenges of balancing work and family commitments. Some mentioned challenges to discussing taboo topics with their children. At the same time, the others raised concerns about teaching children about safety. Another parent talked about the struggles of managing their mental health while supporting their child’s emotional needs.

As the discussion progressed, it became clear that many parents in the room could relate to these experiences. There were nods of recognition and supportive murmurs as each person shared their story.

The atmosphere was open and nonjudgmental, and it was clear that everyone was there to support and encourage each other. The specialists offered valuable advice and resources, and the attendees were eager to ask questions and share their experiences.

The room had a sense of community and connection as the meeting ended. It was beautiful to see parents coming together to support each other and openly discuss the challenges and joys of parenting.

Overall, the school’s first successful parent mental health support meeting was a resounding success. It was a powerful reminder that we are all on this parenting journey together and that asking for help and support is okay when needed.
